Pinya de Rosa
Pinya de Rosa is a tropical garden located on a property that measures some 500.000 km2 on the outskirts of the city. It represents one of the largest and most interesting collections of living cactus in Europe. The garden's collection is made up of more than 7.000 species from all over the world.
The garden was founded by Ferran Riviere de Caralt, a known industrial engineer, who began creating the garden shortly after acquiring the property in 1945. The formation of the collection took years of intense work. The specimens that came to make up the collection came from their original habitats as well as from botanic gardens, nurseries and private collections from all over the world.
The collections of the Agave, Aloe, Lucca and Opuntia genuses have come to be considered the best in Europe and even the world.
