ITINERARY F – The historic center of Blanes

 

Length: 1 kilometre (approx.)

Description: A walk through the streets of the old quarter of Blanes.

Points of interest en route: “La plaza”, daily fruit and vegetable market in the Blanes orchards and surrounding areas.
Fuente de la Mina Cristalina, constructed in 1854.
Casa Tordera, modernist house built in 1908.
Casa de la Vila, constructed at the end of the XVI century annexes for the local government.
Collection of the city's stately homes, on carrer Ample.
Images of Sant Bonós and Sant Maximià, co-patrons of the city.
Gothic Fountain, constructed in the XV century, an exceptional piece of gothic civil architecture.
Casa Orench, built in 1926.
Collection of medieval houses, also on Carrer Ample.
Parochial chuch and former palace of the Viscounts of Cabrera, magnificent vestiges of the gothic style from the XIV century.
Plaza de la Verge Maria, a square where, formerly, fish was sold and a corner where one of the ancient entrances to the old, walled village of Blanes is conserved.
Plaza dels Dies Feiners, site of the market during the Middle Ages.
Capella de l’Antiga, possibly the oldest hermitage in the city.
Hospital de Sant Jaume, constructed in 1913.
