III. Route through the hermitages
Length: 19.3 kilometres
Description: Itinerary that includes the seven hermitages of Blanes while passing through pleasant forests, countryside and urban landscape.
Points of interest en route:
- Santuari Nostra Senyora del Vilar, situated in the midst of Blanes' forested area, it shelters the XIII century virgin.
- Ermita de Santa Bàrbara, a group of buildings formed by the chapel of Santa Bàrbara (XII century), a house and a defensive tower (XVI century).
- Ermita de Sant Joan, XV century chapel dedicated to Sant Joan Baptista.
- Sant Joan Castle, dated to the XI century, with views of the outskirts of the city and a good part of the neighbouring towns.
- Marimurtra Botanical Gardens, began in 1921, this is one of the most well-known European botanical gardens.
- Capella de la Nostra Senyora de l’Esperança, on record since the XVII century and decorated in a maritime style.
- Parish church and former palace of the Viscounts of Cabrera, magnificent vestiges of the gothic style from the XIV century.
- Ermita de la Salud.
- Ermita de la Antigua, possibly the city's oldest hermitage.
